No *official* class on the 15th, who's up for meeting anyway?

Hey fellow creators!
I'm sorry I haven't posted any art, I wanted to do so today as I sharpen what I have so far--but that's besides my point I'm trying to make!

Tomorrow, November 15th Todd is unavailible--who wants to meet for a psuedo-class (well, club really!) And show eachother what we've got so far; share how our ideas are coming and have open positive critique?
Also; our board is going up officially soon, so if anyone wants to put art on it--tomorrow is your last chance!
If you're interested, Let's meet in the art building with all the round tables; the entrance is near the auditorium.  There are a bunch of brand new tables with lots of chairs, and we don't have to worry about noise.

If you have any suggestions or ideas, please don't hesitate to share them!
Hope to see you there, there will be snacks this time! ;)

Wally Wood's 22 Panels That Always Work

This is a classic tool/device used by comic book artists and cartoonists, used to move the narrative forward in times of crisis (aka when you get stuck); I think this can be helpful, please feel free to refer to it, and even print out a copy to use. It can also be used to kick a narrative that won't start into gear.

Emily--Not Attending 11/8

Hi everyone,

It sounds like everyone got underway on their comics!  Four pages in class, you must have all rocked last week!

I'm sorry to bail for a second week, but for me, November started another project, called National November Writing Month, or NaNoWriMo for short.  It's a nationwide challenge to kick writers into high gear and write 50,000 words in a month--the average size of a novel.

Sadly, I can't find time to do both comics and writing this week (though Angelee and I are still writing Sin & Virtue, and I appreciate everyone's feed back).  I'll watch the blog over the next week and if I manage to crank anything out, I'll post it up here.

Good luck today!

Struggling with this page

Page four is fine:
It leads into page five, which is giving me trouble. I'd ike some feedback on this page and possibly some suggestions on how to make it a stronger page.
Thanks, Angelee

So, i decided to lighten the window...

Why Comics Are More Important Than Ever

My friend and colleague Bill Kartalopoulos recently wrote this great essay on comics for the Huffington Post. A great, well-written read full of links to great resources.
Cheers.

Project progress

On Saturday (Nov 1) we began focusing individually on progress and narrative process for each student's project. From here on out, our work each week will be a guidance session with myself and your student-peers on the 4-page story (or "story episode") we will complete during this workshop, based on what we've determined together are the goals for your work.
Damien and Kim made real progress in developing their stories this week, and I'm looking forward to reviewing work with everyone else, and helping you all establish character and story arc movement/s that can be developed and worked out as either "establishing" or keystone moments in your narrative, or stand-alone stories, or backstory/biographical pivots, or whatever you think works best. Some of you did not attend the workshop session, but because each project requires input from your peers, we will wait until next week to see where you're at in your story development and/or where you want to take your characters in the 4-page assignment; I'd like to focus on a self-contained story that fits within the larger framework of your project, so please attend next week's session prepared to discuss this, and review progress from the previous week.
Thanks, see you on Saturday!

The Gemini Three

Hi, guys. Here's a link to the first episode of my new comic, The Gemini Three:
This is kind of an experiment for me, trying new things with different types of characters and ideas. Thanks for taking a look!
