Wordless Backstory : Hilary Pillette's... The Life of Bird?

I'm still wrestling with what to call this angry bird. I'm not sure I want to tell an autobiographical tale through him either. He may just need to take off on his own and tell me why he's holding that pool cue.... He's a detective! Living in San Francisco. He goes on a search to find a missing woman only to discover he IS the missing woman! Some nights he goes to meet with an old buddy of his from rehab, Bubba, to play pool and discuss his latest findings. Its at one of these meetings that they run into Larry Von Hamlish, Devil Worshipper and Kayak Enthusiast, who takes them on a wild ride around the city that gets them into serious trouble with the law and causes them both to rethink their whole identities!! Or... something. ;)

Please note. I'm NOT DONE! ;) That hideous bubble gum pink path and the colors on the floor under his feet need to be finished. I was trying to white them out, but came to find out, acrylic paint (titanium white) will just get absorbed by 111 lb matte drawing paper. AND.. who the F knew?? Inks work better on Bristol board too. Next time! Or... If I want to take this somewhere, I'll use Kim's suggestion to use tracing vellum and redo it on the right surface.

KIM! PUT YOUR SHIT UP! ;)

Wordless Backstory Assignment -- Emily Miranda

Hi everybody! Sorry I couldn't make it, my friend is speaking at the Retro Gaming Expo and I've been showing him around town.  I did the assignment and wanted to talk a little about it.

So Angelee and I have talked about our main characters, Angel E and Devil M.  But who was this cat?  The cat is kind of complicated--how do I show it without blurting it out?  I left a few clues if you can read between the lines.

First, the cat seems to be watching M.  What kind of cat has a tablet??? What are those icons? The cat zooms in to what M is reading--that's fire + house, by the way.  The cat looks upset.  What to do?  So the cat (who sleeps on clouds???) decides to take action.  The cat plummets down, but lands with a "tink!"  (I tried so hard to get little dust clouds but it wasn't working out). That certainly defies the laws of physics.

So then the cat is at the house (the house that's going to be on fire???), sneaks in, clears its throat, and prepares itself.

WHAT ARE YOU DOING KITTY???  Why did you sneak in?  What's with the world's saddest face?  Don't you know what's going to happen??? Yes, kitty does.  And kitty has a plan.

Sure, not all the answers are on the page.  But then, it usually never is, is it?
